The opening One Day International of a three-match series between Australia and Pakistan will take place at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Monday. Under the direction of their new captain, Mohammad Rizwan, Pakistan is preparing to begin a one-day series against Australia in anticipation of the ICC Champions Trophy next year. In light of this next ODI series, Rizwan, who was just named the white-ball skipper, has shown a great desire to assemble the ideal team before the competition.

After Pakistan handed ODI debuts to opening batsman Saim Ayub and middle-order batsman Irfan Khan, Australia has opted to bowl on a beautiful day at the MCG.
Ayub and Abdullah Shafique will form a new starting combination for Pakistan in the ODIs, despite their dismal performance as an opening pair in Test matches. Babar Azam returns at number three after being rested for the previous two Test matches against England at home. Mohammad Rizwan, the captain, is slated to bat fourth. As part of a four-man pace assault, Shaheen Shah Afridi and Naseem Shah have also made a comeback.
Australia’s pacers will be looking to get an early lead after Mitchell Starc claimed seven wickets in a Sheffield Shield match at the MCG just two weeks ago. Josh Hazlewood will be included in the squad for the second ODI in Adelaide, however he will not be playing in this match because he is currently representing New South Wales in the Shield.
Matt Short, Jake Fraser-McGurk, Steve Smith, Josh Inglis, Marnus Labuschagne, Aaron Hardie, Glenn Maxwell, Sean Abbott, Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, and Adam Zampa are the members of Australia’s inaugural ODI team.
The following players are in Pakistan’s first ODI squad: Muhammad Irfan Khan, Salman Ali Agha, Abdullah Shafique, Saim Ayub, Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, Kamran Ghulam, Naseem Shah, Haris Rauf, and Mohammad Hasnain.
