Rinku Singh was one of the best players kept by the Kolkata Knight Riders prior to the IPL 2025 mega auction; the reigning champions paid ₹13 crore to sign him. For barely ₹10 crore, KKR had already signed him. Given that he was priced at ₹55 lakh in the most recent mega auction, the batsman’s earnings have climbed by about 24 times!
Rinku helped KKR score 29 runs in the final five balls of the IPL 2023 match by hitting five straight sixes off Gujarat Titans’ Yash Dayal, making headlines. He amassed 474 runs at a remarkable average of 59.75 over 14 innings during this breakthrough season. His profile was further raised in August 2023 when he made his debut against Ireland in Dublin after being called up to the Indian team due to his IPL performance.
He only scored 168 runs in 11 innings during his 2024 season comeback, though, as his batting position moved to the lower-middle order. In spite of this, the team remained confident in him and selected him as a top pick.

It was difficult for the reigning champions, KKR, to hold onto six players from a squad full of game-winners that won the team’s third IPL championship, its first in ten years. The Knight Riders kept veteran West Indies all-rounder Andre Russell and Sunil Narine, but released skipper Shreyas Iyer and Australian fast bowler Mitchell Starc, whom they had purchased for a record 24.75 crore at the previous auction.
The fact that Rinku Singh is still playing with such a talented group of players shows how much the KKR management believes in him as a middle-order batsman. Rinku has made great strides after his outstanding effort in Kolkata’s historic victory over Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad last year.
The left-handed batsman has amassed 893 runs at a strike rate of 143.33 and an average of 30.79 in 46 games with KKR, including four half-centuries.
Rinku scored 474 runs at a remarkable average of 59.25 and a strike rate of 149.52 in the 2023 Indian Premier League, including four half-centuries. He smashed five straight sixes off Yash Dayal’s over against Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad to give Kolkata a historic triumph.
